retires after 33 years of teaching, coaching
Harold
Abramson started his teaching career in Washington, IL teaching 7th and
8th grade science for one year. For 32 years he has taught in Dist. 117,
with the first 31 at ACHS and one at LCHS.
Abramson taught
Biology, Honors Biology, General Science, Ecology, Natural Science, Nucleonics,
Psychology, Integrated Biology-Math-English and Driver Education for our
district.
Beyond teaching,
Harold spent seven years as the athletic director at ACHS.
He had a variety
of experience coaching including sophomore/varsity boys' golf and started
the girls' golf program. He also coached freshman and sophomore baseball
teams, junior varsity and varsity girls' basketball teams, junior varsity
and varsity girls' softball teams and took swimmers to conference, sectional
and state meets, even though ACHS had no official school swimming teams.
