Band students compete in music festival
On Saturday, March 19, 35 students from the Lakes Community High Music Department participted in the Solo and Ensemble Contest at Northwestern University. Out of 19 events, there were 15 Division I ratings and 4 Divsion II ratings. Of the 15 Divsion I's, three were perfect scores! Listed below are the names, results and type of event each student participated in.
Division I: Kenzie Conner, clarinet; Danielle Ezell, clarinet; Micheal Garver, clarinet; Jaimi LaFontaine, flute; Jennifer Nestor, flute; Jennifer Ray, piano; Thomas Weber, flute.
Flute duet: Jennifer Nestor and Janae LeBaron (perfect score). Flute duet: Shawna Roberts and Heidi Brandt. Saxophone duet: Christina Mazulis and Kateri Tuminello (perfect score). Trumpet trio: Josh Beckman, Andrea Stein and Robbie Bock. Brass quintet: James Guess, Nathan David, Kevin Pixler, Katie English
and Sarah Miller. Percussion quintet: Emanuel Whilhoite, Nick Tucker, Chase Hernandez, Danielle Hightower and Dan Patrick. Woodwind quintet: Jamie Braden, Kathryn Sullivan, Erica Stein, Ben Safron and Emily Dewitt (perfect score).
Division II: Josh Beckman, trumpet; Janae LeBaron, flute; Christina Mazulis, alto saxophone; Kateri Tumminell, piano.
