No drugs found during routine locker search
A routine drug search on Nov. 4 involving four canines and police officers from local police departments turned up no evidence of drugs at LCHS, said Principal Robert Crist.
The dogs were brought around gym and hallway lockers as part of the search, which began a few minutes into first period and ended shortly before second period, just after 9 a.m. Teachers were asked to keep all students in their classrooms during that time.
The drug searches will occur periodically throughout the school year to prevent drug use among students and to "safeguard the learning environment" at LCHS, Crist said. Future searches might include backpacks and the school parking lot. This is the second year of canine drug searches at LCHS. No drugs were found last year.
