Receptionist Evie Amelio hangs homemade ornaments on the holiday tree in the main office. Students can make ornaments for the tree as part of a contest.

Seeking ways to give back during the holidays? Look no further. In addition to the fun the winter season brings, LCHS clubs and advisories are hard at work sponsoring several charitable drives and fundraisers to help less fortunate families celebrate.
Key Club will be collecting new, unwrapped gifts for Toys for Tots from now through Dec. 15. Gifts may be placed in the box by the holiday tree in the main office.
Snowball Club is sponsoring a food drive to benefit the Open Arms Mission. Donations may be dropped off in the attendance office. Among the most needed items are pasta sauce, canned fruit, heat and eat meals, jelly, and toilet paper.
Lauri Hargrove and Colette Todd’s advisories are collecting coats, hats, and mittens in Room C309 and the choir room through Dec. 17. The classes plan to distribute what they collect to a shelter in January. Also, the two classes will show the Jim Carrey version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Cost is $3 or $1 with a donation for the coat drive or for Curt Onstad's advisory's food drive. Financial proceeds will go to Adopt A Family. All are welcome to attend.
Also helping Adopt A Family is the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which collected about 20 gifts from club members to be donated to a family in need.
Beginning Dec. 5, April Kelly’s advisory class is giving away free candy canes during lunch hours to anyone who donates $1 for the Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
