8th
grade night brings future students to Lakes

Almost
300 members of next year’s freshman class spent Wednesday night looking
around, meeting teachers, and signing up for activities, all in preparation
for what will most likely be the most important year of their lives. The
first Eighth Grade Night held Jan. 26 at Lakes Community High School was
very well attended by parents, prospective students, and staff.
After a few brief
comments from principal Robert Crist, the students wandered throughout the
building for the better part of two hours. Most of the clubs and sports
were represented, as well as all the academic content areas. Various classrooms,
science labs, physical education facilities, and electives were on display
and staffed with teachers who answered the questions and soothed the fears
of the incoming freshmen.
Eighth grade registration
will begin in a few short weeks. Anyone with questions regarding this process
should contact the Lakes Community High School guidance office.
