Lauren Foerster and the rest of the senior defense were too much for the juniors at Tuesday night’s powder-puff football game.
The freshmen proved to be too much for the sophomores, beating them 21-7 in the October 12 powder-puff football game before a crowd of more than 200 fans. In game two, Selina Spiller led the seniors to a 26-0 rout of the juniors.
Game one between the freshmen and the sophomores was a scoreless deadlock until frosh quarterback Shayna York threw to Andrea Fullerton at the sophs’ one-yard line to set up York’s touchdown run with 1:30 left in the first half.
Less than a minute later, Sama Saed ran 35 yards for the freshmen’s second score. Ashley Phillips’ conversion run made the halftime score 13-0.
Nora Kenny closed out the freshmen’s scoring on a 30-yard pass play and extra point. The sophomores avoided a shutout with a late drive, capped by a 17-yard pass from Colleen Krakora to Kaitlin Peterson to make the final score 21-7.
In game two, senior Selina Spiller played a part in all of her team’s scoring, throwing three touchdown passes and catching a fourth. The onslaught began on the second play of the game when Spiller connected on a 45-yard pass to Loren Scarborough to put the seniors on the board.
With two minutes left in the first half, Calla Myslinski caught a 10-yard pass from Spiller for the seniors’ second touchdown. Spiller’s run for the conversion made the halftime score 14-0.
Midway through the second half the seniors pulled out their “big money play,” a reverse to Scarborough, who threw to Spiller to make the score 20-0. On the final play of the game, Spiller connected with Scarborough yet again to make the final 26-0.
