Students plant tulips to raise awareness
Snowball Club members planted a garden of 150 tulip buds around the LCHS marquee on Oct. 25. The effort was just one of the national activities the group brought home this week to recognize Red Ribbon Week. If all goes well, the Plant the Promise flowers will bloom in April during Alcohol Awareness Month.
The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is to educate students about the harmful effects of substance abuse. Club members, who sponsored the activities, began spreading the nationally recognized message on Oct. 24 by encouraging students in advisory classes to sign drug and alcohol free pledges. Those who signed received a button to wear, and they were entered in a daily Ribbon Raffle.
