Students viewed a three-screen multi-media film titled "Be the Change" on Sept. 28 that used contemporary music and video graphics to promote the message of avoiding negative situations and influences.
Camfel, the creators of the film, used the music and lyrics of popular artists such as Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Green Day and Tupac Shakur to encourage students to stay clear of drugs and alcohol, fight against negative peer pressure, and to be the better person when they witness someone being bullied.
The footage also included interviews with kids who experienced low times in life resulting from substance abuse and activity and how they overcame those times.
The idea to show the presentation is a result of survey data collected from students last April. The survey questions focused on the topics shown in the film.
District staff will see the survey results at the next Institute Day on Oct. 6. |
