Students 'dropped everything' to read, write
Students and staff took 30 minutes out of their normal schedules to "Chill 'N Read" last Friday, Oct. 20 as part of LCHS' recognition of national Teen Read Week. This year's theme was "Get Active at Your Library." Students enjoyed the opportunity to choose a book, magazine or newspaper geared to their interests.
Later that day, students dropped everything to write for 18 minutes as part of "WORD" or "Write on ReaDing".
Dozens of students chose to answer an optional writing prompt based upon what they read during “Chill n’ Read”. Those who chose this option were entered into a contest sponsored by the library. Click here to see a list of winners. Winning entries were based upon students' abilities to answer the prompt and convince someone reading their paper to read what they chose to read during “Chill n’ Read.” Other students wrote letters to friends, free wrote, and more. |
