Fine Arts Department hosts concerts
A men’s choir from Tokyo, Japan performed for about 150 students and staff on Feb. 15. The St. Mary’s Varsity Men’s Ensemble sang traditional choral tunes from its tour – in English – during the hour-long concert. An award-winning ensemble, the group of about 25 students who study at St. Mary’s International School also has toured through Australia and New Zealand.
The group accepted choral director Colette Todd’s invitation to perform at LCHS on its way to the American Choral Directors Association conference in Chicago this weekend. Consisting of freshmen through senior students from Japan, France, Korea and the United States, many of the members have been singing since they were in fifth grade.
Also this month, the Fine Arts Department is hosting a free concert featuring the Illinois State University Wind Symphony. The concert is scheduled for Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
