Mascot goes to re-vote
Many students who voted for the school mascot in the past few weeks say they selected the "blue" Eagle primarily because the color of its sweater was an LCHS color. They say they were not aware that the sweater color of the "yellow" Eagle would be changed to LCHS colors if that mascot won the vote, so they voted for the "blue" one.
To address this mix-up and collect more accurate survey results, Athletic Director Troy Parola decided to put the two mascot costumes up for a re-vote this week. Online voting began Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. and will end Wednesday at 4 p.m. Now, the two finalists will be differentiated as "white" and "brown" feathers on the poll rather than by the color of their sweaters. The "white" Eagle originally won the contest, 407-110.
After a mascot is selected, Parola said he will be in search of student applicants who are interested in wearing the costume at various home events. The mascot will make appearances at contests such as football and basketball games. More information about how to apply will be released soon.
