And the winner is...the brown-feathered Eagle!
All of the votes from the second round of voting have been tallied. It was a close race, but the brown Eagle came out on top with 64 percent of the faculty vote and 47 percent of the student vote, or a total of 272-264 votes.
The white-feathered Eagle had won the first vote, but a re-vote was put into effect due to confusion over the colors of the Eagles' sweaters. Many students said they did not realize the yellow sweater on the brown Eagle would change to a blue sweater to match school colors; they said they only voted for the white Eagle because it already was wearing a blue sweater.
After the mascot costume has been ordered and arrives at the school, Athletic Director Troy Parola said he will be in search of student applicants who are interested in wearing the costume at various home events.
The mascot will make appearances at contests such as football and basketball games. More information about how to apply will be released soon. |
