ACHS' McKay named next head Eagle; will assume post July 1
Jim McKay, ACHS assistant principal for curriculum and instruction, will lead the Eagles as principal of LCHS beginning July 1. McKay was one of six finalists for the position who made it to the interview process. An interview committee consisting of LCHS staff, students, parents and district administrators selected McKay as the top candidate, a decision the District 117 School Board affirmed during its April 20 meeting when it accepted the recommendation.
McKay, who has been at ACHS for six years and assistant principal for curriculum and instruction for the past two, will be the second principal the school has seen since it opened its doors in the fall of 2004. He will follow former principal Robert Crist, who resigned in early March for personal reasons.
Superintendent Jay Sabatino announced McKay's appointment to LCHS staff Friday morning. McKay said he was honored to be selected to take the helm of the school and told staff, "I want to exceed all expectations...I'm certain I won't let you down."
