Library staff says 'Peace Out and Read' April 13
The library staff is extending National Library Week by four days with their very own "Read-stock", which began April 3 and will run through April 13. Librarian MaryLou Stampfl said that the purpose of "Read-Stock", a spin-off of the Woodstock Music and Art Festival from the 1960s, is to encourage students and staff to view reading as an enjoyable, relaxing activity.
The library staff organized a daily trivia game to run through this week and next. Students who successfully answer the trivia question, which is provided during morning announcements, will win a prize relating to the 60s theme, such as a peace sign tattoo. Students can submit their answers in boxes located in the library or attendance office.
After school on April 11 and 12, National Honor Society members will teach any interested students how to use the online databases provided through the library's web page - resources they could use to complete school research projects.
The festivities will conclude on April 13 with "Peace Out and Read". From 10:40-11:10, everyone at Lakes, including students, teachers and all staff, will take a time-out from their busy daily schedules to read a book or magazine of their choice.
