Eagles take summer break, prepare for '06-'07
Students welcomed the summer on June 5 as they left the LCHS grounds after completing the last of their semester exams. But while the students busied themselves with thoughts of the beach and time with friends, staff members already were shifting their minds in preparation for next school year.
For the first time since LCHS opened in the fall of 2004, the school will house all four grade levels, freshmen through seniors, bringing the enrollment to about 1,200 students. In its first year, the school taught only the freshman and sophomore levels and has since added one grade level each year a move designed to ease the process of opening a new building.

To accommodate the increase in enrollment, the school will welcome new teachers and a fourth and final team leader, Aryan Haren. Haren, who taught biology for the past six years, accepted the position at the end of April. She officially will join associate principal Ron Bode and team leaders Dave Newberry, Mark Ring and Kerstin Santarelli in the administrative ranks on July 1, along with new principal Jim McKay. McKay formerly held the position of assistant principal for curriculum and instruction at ACHS.
Even though 2005-2006 has ended, it will stay alive in the pages of the school yearbook, themed "Finding a New Identity". Yearbooks will be available by the end of August or early September to students who purchased a copy.
Other useful summer information: The LCHS main office will be open from June 7 through August 17 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Also, parents and guardians are encouraged to watch for registration packets, which will be mailed home by the end of June.
