LCHS offers new, improved ACT prep class

Juniors planning to take the ACT may sign up for prep classes that begin Tuesday, Jan. 23—just three weeks before the Feb. 10 test scheduled at LCHS. Students will have the opportunity to brush up on their test-taking skills in the areas of Math, Science, Reading, Language Arts and Writing, which are the five disciplines the college entrance exam covers.
The format of the class has been revamped compared to last year to accommodate the needs of students, as expressed on a survey participants completed at the end of last year's session. For example, this year, students will have the option to sign up for only those classes they believe would be beneficial to them; it is not necessary for them to enroll in all five subject area classes, though they are welcome and encouraged to do so. Each class costs $25 and lasts one-and-a-half hours.
The cost is $100 if a student enrolls in all five classes.

Two classes will meet on each Tuesday and Thursday after school from Jan. 23 to Feb. 8. The first class will meet from 5:30-7 p.m. and the second will run from 7-8:30 p.m. Those who sign up for a class will take a practice ACT on Jan. 15, which will determine their placement. An open house is scheduled for Jan. 18 to answer student and parent questions about the course.
Another prep session is scheduled for the three weeks prior to the next ACT at LCHS on April 14.
