Advanced Placement classes prepare for exams
For students, spring means nice weather and testing, testing, testing. Math teacher Dan Swartz combined the two signs of the season on April 19, holding his Advanced Placement Calculus class outside in the nearly 60 degree afternoon. The class, in preparation for the May 9 AP exam, worked on calculus problems on the courtyard sidewalks using chalk.
Next week, Swartz has organized a Calculus Idol game for his students, a spin-off of the popular television show American Idol.
Following Prairie State Achievement Exam testing for juniors next week, seniors enrolled in AP classes will complete the AP exams with the goal of earning college credit. More than 100 students are registered for an AP test; they are encouraged to attend study sessions on April 25 and 26 during PSAE week.
The AP exams are scheduled from beginning to mid-May. Click here for more information about specific testing dates. |
