New Eagles Booster Club holds meeting Jan. 10
More than 30 assembled in the auditorium on Jan. 10 to learn more about the newly formed Lakes Eagles Booster Club. The meeting was open to the entire school community, including parents and students. Principal Jim McKay said the purpose of the meeting was to provide information about the booster club's mission and to recruit interest from parents to participate in the organization.
The booster club is designed to raise money to help fund any LCHS program—academic, athletic or otherwise—that identifies a need for a financial boost. For example, the club might provide partial funding to help teachers who are planning a student trip overseas. To raise money, club members are planning a Gala event that includes dinner, dancing and possibly a silent auction on April 21, and they hope to begin selling spirit wear at the concession stand during athletic events.
McKay said that although much of the ground work to create a booster club has already been completed, including drafting the recently school board approved by-laws, there is still much to do. And the more parents who get involved, the better. So far, about 10 parents have been active in the establishment of the booster club.
In the next couple of weeks, the club will begin electing officers.
