LCHS welcomes freshmen during orientation
Members of the National Honor Society help freshman students locate their textbooks.
Members of the Class of 2011 had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the Eagle way on Thursday, Aug. 16, just four days before the first day of school on Aug. 20. Class begins at 7:30 a.m.
Freshmen spent the morning following a rotation with their advisor and advisory class. They also became acquainted with their senior advisors — senior students who interviewed to play a leadership role in an advisory class for the 2007-2008 school year. This is the first year seniors have been invited to apply.
Part of the morning was reserved for advisories to participate in getting-to-know-you games, to take a tour of the building and to locate their lockers. They also heard from administrators, guidance counselors and student government sponsors and got a taste of the school fight song through a performance by the dance team.
National Honor Society members assisted the freshmen in checking out their textbooks. The district has adopted a new, computerized system designed to make textbook check out and check in more efficient.
The Freshman Class of 356 students brings the school's total enrollment to nearly 1,400.
