Mosaic earns Gold Medalist rating in first year
 |
The Columbia Scholastic Press Association classified the 2007 LCHS literary magazine Mosaic as a Gold Medalist in its first year of publication.
The honor was awarded based on a critique of the publication, themed "Intraspect", in which the magazine earned 928 out of 1,000 points. Mosaic earned All-Columbian Honors in the content category, which also is the area advisor April Kelly said she believed was the magazine's strongest. Other areas evaluated include organization and design.
"I was thrilled," Kelly said. "With it being the first time we put together a magazine, it was definitely an exciting feeling."
She added that she wished her staff members from last year were still around to share the good news; most of them graduated as members of the Class of 2007.
The magazine comprises creative work such as poetry and photography submitted by students and faculty and staff. Kelly said that even though the Literary Magazine class does not begin until second semester, she will accept submissions at any time.
There are still copies of Mosaic available for purchase for $7. |
