Apply to wear the costume
An unknown identity hid behind the face of the Eagle mascot, unleashed for the first time at a winter pep assembly on Feb. 2. The feathered figure made a grand entrance, tossing t-shirts into the rowdy stands and romping with the spirit squads during the school fight song before revealing itself as — Principal Jim McKay.
The costume is finally in and the Athletic Department is in search of a student to represent the Eagles as the mascot at home events. Those interested must submit an essay that answers, "Why I believe I would make a good mascot." Entries are due to Associate Principal Ron Bode by Monday, Feb. 19. A student's academic performance, discipline record and attendance also will be taken into consideration.
Also during the pep assembly, students showed support for the winter athletic teams and watched a short preview performance of the winter musical, Into the Woods.
