Futuristic spin on Romeo and Juliet opens May 10
Tybalt and Mercutio fight in a futuristic take on Romeo and Juliet.
The Drama Club opens its contemporary twist on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet on May 10 at 7 p.m. in the theater. Other shows are scheduled for May 11 at 7 p.m. and on May 12 at 2 and 7 p.m.
Bridget Sundin has been directing her cast of 30 and crew of 40 students on the show for the past three months. Sundin decided to take a different point of view with the famous tragedy, altering the setting so it revolves around a government state in the not so distant future, she said.
Actors roll across the stage atop skateboards during the show. A chain linked fence drapes down the back of the set, caging in a live band.
Tickets are $5 and will be sold during lunch hours this week. They also will be available in the main office.
