Technical Drawing students build, launch rockets
Technical Drawing II students are preparing for lift-off.
After spring break, the class will launch the rocket models that they designed and built over the past couple of weeks to see if they fly straight and successfully recover using a parachute.
Teacher Jon Salaban said he gave the students some guidelines, such as maximum size, when they began designing their models using technical drawing software such as AutoCAD and Inventor; the rest was up for them to research online. After designing their models, they constructed them using foam board and super glue. The result: Spartacus II, Greatness and more.
Salaban said the students will evaluate the effectiveness of their models, which can travel up to 1,000 feet high, after the launch. The students will use a launching mechanism designed by Salaban's Electronics class at ACHS as part of the activity. |
