Buy pink t-shirt for 'Volleyball for the Cure' game on Oct. 12
The Oct. 12 volleyball game against ACHS is about more than winning or losing — it's also about raising money for breast cancer research.
Both teams are trying to raise money by selling pink "Volleyball for the Cure" t-shirts for $10. The goal is for all fans to wear the t-shirt to the game at ACHS and "pack the stands in pink." The sophomore game begins at 5 p.m. and the varsity game begins at 6 p.m. The Eagle and Sequoit athletes also will be wearing pink during the matches.
Carla Thompson, LCHS head coach, said she got this idea from two schools in the Cincinnati, Ohio area that organized a similar event last year. It is important to raise money for the cause because statistics show that approximately 10,000 women under the age of 40 will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
Money raised through t-shirt sales and other fundraisers taking place during the matches will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
