Into the Woods winter musical opens Feb. 8
All of the fairy tales will come together in the Drama Club's performance of the winter musical, Into the Woods, which opens Thursday at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
The story and score, written by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim, respectively, and first performed in the late 1980s, centers on the Baker and his wife. The couple longs for a child but is prevented from having one because of a wicked witch's curse. The pair journeys across the land in hopes of finding items required to break the spell. The Baker and his wife encounter familiar characters such as Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella and Rapunzel along the way.
The cast of more than 30 students as well as the technical crew and pit band have been rehearsing since late November.
Other performances are scheduled for Feb. 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. with a matinee showing at 2 p.m. on Feb. 10. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for non-students. |
