New traffic pattern devised for safety, efficiency
The opening of school this fall will bring some subtle and not so subtle changes. The most obvious change is that school will begin a half hour earlier than last year, with first period beginning at 7:30 a.m. Click here to view the new bell schedule. This schedule change will help with curricular and athletic activities after school.
Additionally, a new traffic pattern will be enforced to assist in maximizing student safety and to minimize traffic congestion on campus. Faculty and staff, students, parents and all other drivers who enter campus are expected to follow the rules that will apply.
Below are the rules.
Please refer to the diagram for visual clarification.
- Parents dropping off and picking students up will do so in the designated area of the faculty parking lot. Upon drop off or pickup, vehicles are to drive the length of the parking lot and follow it around to exit out of the lot. Vehicles should not drop off or pick up anywhere other than the designated area. Signs will be posted to inform motorists. Handicapped students and guests will be the only people to be allowed access to the circle drive.
- Directional arrows will be painted on the pavement and additional signs will be posted to help inform motorists on where to go and locations for drop off and pickup. Curbs that are painted yellow indicate that area as a no parking zone. Cars must have a valid handicapped designated sticker to park in the circle drive.
- No cars, other than designated handicapped cars will be allowed into the circle drive. Security personnel will be directing traffic in the morning and afternoon to assist motorists.
- Busses will drop off and pick up students in the back parking lot near the loading dock. Busses will exit the school onto Deep Lake Road rather than exiting on Eagle Way and Grass Lake Road.
No cars are to park in the back parking lot. This lot is only for busses. Violators will be towed.
