More ACT prep opportunities planned for juniors
Team Leader Dave Newberry navigates students through an online ACT prep program.
In another initiative to better prepare students for the ACT, 130 juniors will participate in online practice activities during their lunch study halls beginning this week.
Team Leader Dave Newberry introduced the ACT program to the juniors on Jan. 8. The students will meet in computer labs for the training three days a week and in a classroom for study hall the other two days. The program includes practice tests for each section of the standardized test, including English, Reading, Writing, Science and Math.
Juniors who do not access the program as part of the school day but are interested in using it at home should contact Newberry, administrative assistant Lesia Semitka, or the library staff to obtain a login name and password and instructions.
Students also are encouraged to enroll in the school's ACT Prep Class. Click here for more information.
In addition to acting as a college entrance exam, the ACT appears as part of the Prairie State Achievement Exam, the Illinois test used to judge the yearly progress of state high schools. Juniors will take the PSAE at the end of April.
