LCHS was one of several Lake County schools recognized by the Regional Office of Education on Dec. 5 for its attendance rate during a weeklong span in October.
In the Fall Attendance Week competition, LCHS received second place in the high school division for its 95.03 percent attendance rate from Oct. 27-31. Four other high schools in addition to middle schools and elementary schools also were recognized for their efforts to get kids to come to school.
North Chicago took first place in the high school category with a 96.23 percent, edging Lakes by just 1.2 percent. Round Lake, Grant, and Waukegan took third, fourth, and fifth place, respectively.
More than 100 schools participated in this contest, representing a total of more than 69,000 students and almost half of the K-12 schools in Lake County.
Aryan Dohman, dean of students, as well as senior Kristine Bennecke and juniors Mandy Fischer and Sarah Beckman attended a luncheon and an awards ceremony sponsored by the Lake County ROE. The three students are part of the list of 180 Eagles who have perfect attendance so far this year.
Though this is the 20th annual competition, this is only the third year that schools were encouraged to bring students.
