Parents of freshmen invited to informational meeting on Aug. 12
The Guidance Department will be available from Aug. 11-13 to pass out student schedules. Students are welcome to pick up their schedules in the guidance office on Monday, Aug. 11 from 3-7 p.m.; Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 1- 4 p.m.; or on Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Schedule adjustments will not be made to accommodate changes in teachers, courses, lunches, or study halls.
Students also should pick up their textbooks in the lower library after receiving their schedules. Freshmen and new students will get their schedules and books during orientation on Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
A Freshmen Parent Night also has been scheduled for Aug. 12 from 6:30-8 p.m. Refreshments will be provided afterwards. Important information will be shared regarding the Class of 2012 and what it takes to be a successful student at LCHS.
Students are reminded to complete their summer reading assignments. Parents and students also should expect a mailing in August about Back to School Night, scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m., and they should familiarize themselves with the new half day and late start schedules. Click here to see the new bell schedules. Early release times on Wednesdays have been eliminated and replaced with late arrival days once a month. In a letter to parents, Superintendent Jay Sabatino said one of the purposes of this change is that "less class time will be disrupted over the school year." Additionally, faculty members will have larger periods of time than in the past to more effectively discuss the school improvement plan and curriculum issues. The district also hopes to utilize the late start schedule on snow days.
