Parents meet teachers, administrators at
Back to School Night
Parents assumed the role of "high school student" for a couple of hours at Back to School Night on Wednesday, Sept. 3. After a brief introduction ceremony in the gymnasium, moms and dads followed their child's daily schedule, stopping in each class for seven minutes to meet teachers and see what the courses were all about.
To begin the evening, Principal Jim McKay highlighted the Eagles' most recent accomplishments, including the Class of 2009's high performance on the Prairie State Achievement Exam, which included scoring the highest in district history on the ACT portion of the test. He also mentioned the Science Department's adoption of Physics First and the jump in enrollment for AP classes. Additionally, McKay introduced the administrative team and department chairs.
The Booster Club made a presence throughout the evening. After providing dinner for faculty and staff, members took post recruiting new faces and selling spirit wear.
