Eagles play during Celebration Day
Food and entertainment abounded during the annual Celebration Day on May 16. After a shortened class schedule, students spent the afternoon floating around the school courtyards from table to table to buy soft pretzels with cheese, pizza, cotton candy, and burgers and hot dogs. Baggo games drew a crowd, as did an "Egg Your Teacher" game.
The Jazz Choir and Jazz Band performed some numbers, and individual students brought along their guitars to entertain. Alongside science teachers, students launched rockets made of empty pop bottles—the grand finale of a Physical Science project. Nearby in the amphitheater, theatre students put on a few skits in preparation for their improv show Hey! Who Turned Off the Lights? on May 21. Others enjoyed a simple game of Double Dutch.
Artwork was displayed in the Commons as well as houses created by foods students who built them using primarily edible materials.
As the event wrapped up, seniors fished for colorful ducks that were dropped into the retention ponds earlier in the morning as part of a senior joke. On each duck was the name of one of the members of the Senior Class.
