Fall play Rumors sure to stir up laughter this weekend

Another hilarious production is expected out of the Drama Club's fall play, Rumors, which opens on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. Ten students comprise the cast and about 45 are in the crew for this Neil Simon comedy, which is set in New York City.
The story centers on the deputy mayor and his wife's tenth wedding anniversary party, which they are throwing for themselves. Although audience members never see the couple, they become aware through the other characters that the deputy mayor has suffered a nonfatal bullet wound to the head and his wife has disappeared. Comical chaos ensues as the party-goers begin to arrive one-by-one and, together, devise a way to hide their friends' situation from authorities.
Sundin said she selected this play because when she was reading the script, it made her laugh out loud. The group of actors and the technical specialists have been rehearsing for about eight weeks.
"This is probably the best set that we've had since I've started working here," said Sundin, attributing the work to the club's new set construction coordinator, Brandon Abear. "[The audience] also can look forward to laughing and having a good time."
Two other performances are scheduled for Nov. 7 and 8 at 7 p.m. in the theatre. Tickets can be bought at the door for $3 for students or $5 for adults.
