German test measures students' abilities in foreign language study
More than 50 students enrolled in German classes took the National German Test on Jan. 14 and 15. The voluntary test, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of German, measures students' overall abilities in their studies of the foreign language. The test includes sections on reading and auditory comprehension and grammar and takes just over one hour to complete.
Teacher Melissa Haines said a majority of her students chose to take the test this year. Only students in German II, III, and IV can sign up. Testers can earn awards for placing in the 70th percentile and above as well as a trip to Germany for scoring in the 90th percentile. Haines said she expects results to come back within the next month and plans to use the information to better meet her students' instructional needs.
