Student mural brings donation to visual arts
The artwork of three students is on display at the new Community Trust Credit Union kiddy-corner to LCHS. The mural, painted by seniors Christina Garcia and Mariah Donner and 2008 graduate Amanda Kraenzle, also led to a $500 donation from the bank to the visual art segment of the Art Department.
Art teacher Cindy Howell along with Principal Jim McKay accepted the donation on Aug. 29 from a bank representative. Click here to view a picture.
"They did a professional job on it," said Howell. "I was really pleased."
The mural is a representation of Lake Villa, containing miscellaneous symbols such as a the town flower, the newly painted water tower, the Lake Villa Public Library, children on swings, and more.
Garcia said the girls spent about five or six hours a day for two weeks over the summer working on the project and added that her favorite part of the experience was "seeing all of our different ideas come together." |
