Local police to conduct rapid response training at LCHS
To prepare for possible threats against the school, Lake Villa, Lindenhurst and Antioch police officers will participate in Rapid Response Training at LCHS on Monday, Dec. 29 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The training will allow officers to familiarize themselves with the layout of the building as well as experience the emotions and instincts that come with working through a threat at a school. Officers will face a simulated stressful environment with the help of actors who will portray staff, students and the offenders as well as distractions such as flashing lights, smoke, loud noises, and the sound of gun fire. Officers also will be equipped with simulated weapons.
Overall, the goal of the training is to prepare officers to react immediately to a school threat, according to a press release.
