Student leaders: 'Step it up, seniors'
May 27 marked the first day that members of the Class of 2009 were the kings and queens of the school. To get the soon-to-be seniors off on the right track, administrators organized a brief meeting to emphasize expectations seniors have in their newfound leadership role.
During the meeting, student leaders urged the Class of 2009 to "step it up" next year. That means remembering to live by the Eagle motto, "Respect+Courtesy=Pride", by keeping the school clean, achieving in classes, attending school-sponsored events, setting a good impression for the younger students, and more, said Zach Stanley, Senior Class president, and Billy Brown, Student Council president.
Students also heard from Principal Jim McKay and team leader Dave Newberry, who encouraged them to use their senior status to set a positive tone for the next school year. They also introduced the new Recognition Program, expected to be implemented next fall, which will reward students in a variety of ways for academic achievement, attendance, and more.
