Winter musical Grease opens Thursday
"Summer Nights" from Grease played over the intercom during passing periods, and cast and crew members dressed in 50s attire, reminding students to purchase tickets for the winter musical, which opens on Thursday, Feb. 26.
Performances are scheduled for Feb. 26 and 27 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 28 at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets for reserved seating can be purchased during lunch periods in advance. Tickets for students and children cost $5, and adult tickets cost $7.
The cast and crew comprise 120 students, making this the largest production ever on the LCHS stage.
The popular love story depicts teenage life at Rydell High School, focusing on the romance between Danny, leader of the T-Birds greaser gang, and Sandy, a goody-goody from a private school. The couple, played by seniors Mat Braden and Becky Ryan, unexpectedly run into each other on the first day of school, after meeting and falling in love during their summer vacation at a beach.
Audience members can expect to see more musical numbers than what they are familiar with from the 1978 movie Grease, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
