Students enter holiday season with giving spirit
If you're looking for a good way to help out this holiday season, you've come to the right place. The LCHS community, including many student groups, is running several charitable drives to help local families who are in need of some holiday cheer.
As always, the Giving Tree stands in the main office awaiting students to pluck the paper ornaments from its branches and to return by Dec. 14 with the gifts listed on the back of each ornament. All gifts will be donated to the Open Arms Mission, a local organization that offers year-round assistance to families.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes also is contributing to the Open Arms Missions' efforts by participating in its Adopt a Family program. Additionally, FCA members filled about a dozen shoeboxes with goodies and gifts for children in other countries as part of Operation Christmas Child.
National Honor Society is running its annual hats, mittens, scarves, and coats drive. Students can drop off these items in the main office by Dec. 10. The Marines also are collecting in the main office for Toys for Tots. Donations go to children in need.
A few student bands will be performing at "Jingle Band Rock" on Saturday, Dec. 5 at Action Territory in Kenosha. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Open Arms Mission.
