"A Night at the Roxbury" Homecoming kicked off last Friday with a black-out pep assembly. Students wore fluorescent necklaces and twirled them around in the black light-lit gymnasium as Student Council representatives announced the week's festivities, including the Powder Puff games on Wednesday, the Pep Rally/Bonfire on Thursday, the football game against the Round Lake Panthers on Friday, and the Homecoming Dance on Saturday. The Homecoming parade floated through Lake Villa on Sunday afternoon.
The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during the Pep Rally/Bonfire. Senior Royalty include Alexis Holbach, Chloe Schaar, Megan Permer, Jack Schneider, Jonathan Zeeb, and Tyler Swindle. Emily Konopka and Kyle Noon were voted Junior Attendants, Jimmy Johnson and Lexie Costa were named Sophomore Attendants, and Payton Gallardo and Tom Richter were named Freshman Attendants.
Students are encouraged to participate in Spirit Days. Monday is Tropical Day, Tuesday is Dress to Impress Day, Wednesday is Neon or Tie-Dye Day, and Thursday is LCHS Spirit Day. Seniors should wear togas on Thursday.
This year's theme is based off of the 1998 movie A Night at the Roxbury starring Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan. Student Council representatives say they hope to decorate the gymnasium like a night club for the dance, which begins at 7 p.m. Tickets will be sold during lunch periods this week and cost $13 for an individual or $20 for two.
