Administrators reopen outdoor lunch for seniors
On nice days when seniors want to eat outside during their lunch periods, all they have to do is ask. That's the agreement administrators made with Student Council and Student Government officers last week, said Principal Jim McKay.
Administrators meet with the student officers monthly during an executive meeting to discuss concerns and issues affecting students. Senior benefits are often among the hot topics during these meetings.
A few years ago, seniors were permitted to eat in the "Eagles Nest," which was located in the courtyard just outside of the Commons. However, the inability to properly supervise the area forced administrators to end an outdoor lunch option, McKay said. Starting Wednesday, Sept. 9, the area just outside of the cafeteria will be open for seniors on nice days. This new location is more easily supervised by faculty who are already on lunch duty.
Other topics discussed during the executive meeting included inviting more guest speakers into the building and possibly adopting more rigorous standards for the honors program. |
