Spring play raises money to support victims of domestic abuse
 |
The spring play is designed not only to entertain its audience, but also to bring awareness to domestic violence. A Lie of the Mind, which opens Thursday, May 7, brings to stage a story about the subjectivity of memory, while also exploring the effects of domestic abuse on two American families.
For every ticket sold to the performance, $2 will go to A Safe Place, a Lake County-based domestic violence shelter.
Additionally, the Theatre Department has devised a program called "Angel Seating," in which interested patrons can pay $25 for a tour of the theatre, to attend a question and answer session with the cast and crew, and to choose their reserved seating for one of the performances; $20 will go to A Safe Place. Drama students also are selling purple domestic violence awareness bracelets for $2. Other donations are being accepted as well. Contact director Bridget Sundin for more information.
Performances are scheduled for May 7 and 8 at 7 p.m. and May 9 at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for students.
