On his second trip to the 2A State boys' cross country meet in Peoria, sophomore Ryan Prais finished the season with his best race ever. Prais crossed the finish line on November 6 in 35th place and broke the school record for the three-mile run with a time of 15:22. Prais set the record at 15:30 as a freshman last year, when he finished in 16th place at the State meet.
LCHS bid him good luck with a parade through the hallways the Friday before the race. Prais walked beside teammate Josh Camp as the color guard and drumline led him down the second floor stretch of the school.
The State races were highly competitive across all three classes.
Prais led his team to its third straight first place finish in the Prairie Division this fall. The boys also took third at Regionals and 14th at Sectionals.
