Selected on a whim, the LCHS fall play John Lennon and Me is possibly the most important show of the year.
Director Bridget Sundin happened to come across it in search of a good comedy. It was love at first readthrough.
"The show was simply perfect," said Sundin. "It fit right in with the other shows I had in mind. Being a girl heavy show, it balanced out the season well..."
Sundin has submitted the show to be considered for the Illinois Theatre Festival. The show will compete with other productions across the state to be one of the few featured at the annual festival in the spring.
Sundin plans to capture the eyes of the judges with the extremely unique and heartfelt journey the show takes the audience on.
The unique production will welcome the first turn-table set the Drama Department has seen. Diced up into three rooms, the rotating set allows the audience-interactive show to continue running with minimal blackouts and pauses.
The show focuses on the story of Star, played by sophomore Emilee Jung. Star interacts directly with the audience throughout the three acts.
The play opens on Thursday, November 4 at 7 p.m., and other shows are scheduled for Friday, November 5 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, November 6 at 2 and 7 p.m.
