Hundreds of students arrived at school on Monday as early as 6:30 a.m. for the filming of the Lip Dub, a school-wide music video. The production of the video is part of a regional contest sponsored by WGN-TV. The winning submission gets to have WGN Morning News broadcast its show on campus.
More than 20 student clubs and sports teams participated in the filming, and about 60 students acted as lip syncers for Jackson 5's "ABC" and Katrina and The Waves' "Walking on Sunshine." Rehearsal took place after school on Friday, Sept. 10 and then more rehearsals were completed before the final filming on Monday morning. Senior Aaron Sauerland filmed the action with the assistance of senior Danny McGrath. The two also are editing the footage; only minimal editing is permitted, per contest rules.
Planning for the music video began last spring, when the school was first alerted about the opportunity by WGN. A small committee of teachers and students met throughout the summer to plan. It should be available for viewing at LakesEagles.com before the end of the week.
