Sketch comedy show raises $900 for Haitian relief
Studio Theater Advanced students raised more than $900 at their annual sketch comedy show "Hey! Who Turned Off the Lights!?" on Tuesday, March 23 at 7 p.m. in the theatre. The show usually takes place in May around the same time as Celebration Day; however, drama teacher Bridget Sundin decided to move the show up this year because all proceeds will go the Red Cross to help the earthquake-torn Haiti. In past years, the show has been free.
Audience members were entertained as students performed 60 sketches in 60 minutes during the show, all of which were written and coordinated by the class over the past month.
"We do a lot of brainstorming sessions, such as 'Wouldn't it be funny if...' Then we do some rough sketches and then some finalizing. It's sort of a three-step process," said Sundin, who added that seeing the students work on the project from start to finish is gratifying. |
