Drama Department plans summer alumni show
The Drama Department will open its final show of the year this Thursday, May 6 at 7 p.m., and it is guaranteed to be an unusual experience.
The show, All of the Days of the World of the Lives of All of Our Children, is a collection of nine scenes from standout comedic writers David Ives and Christopher Durang. The scenes, which are divided into two acts, all come from a nature of absurd comedy, a style new to the LCHS stage.
The 20 or so student actors, not to mention the tech crew, have been preparing for the show since mid-March, not long after the winter musical Annie wrapped up. Other shows are scheduled for May 7 at 7 p.m. and May 8 at 2 and 7 p.m. Admission is $5 for students and $7 for adults.
The Drama Club's annual Thespian Induction is scheduled for May 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the theatre. Following the induction ceremony, the department will host an Alumni Cabaret fundraiser for $5 per ticket; Sundin and choir teacher Tom Vendafreddo will be among the performers, as well as nearly 20 alumni. Money raised will be used to help fund the first ever alumni summer show, Stephen Sondheim's Company. The musical will run from July 29-31. Sundin said she also plans to hold a week-long summer camp for middle school students. |
